Recipe: Homemade Rosehip Syrup
Ingredients:
- 500 g Rosehips
- 250g Sugar
- 750 ml Water
Directions:
- Bring water and rosehips together in a pan and bring to a boil. Let steep for 30 minutes to an hour.
- Strain the rosehips through a muslin lined sieve twice to make sure there are no solids.
- Measure the juice and for every 500 ml of juice use 250g of sugar. (If there is half that then use half the sugar. It should be roughly a 1:1/2 ratio.)
- Heat the mixture gently until all the sugar has dissolved then boil for about 3 minutes to thicken. (You can boil it a bit longer, as it depends on how thick you want the syrup but don’t do longer then 10 minutes)
- Pour syrup into an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 6 months.
Notes: This recipe is great added to lemonade or used as a sort of mixer in drinks.
